Kasey’s horticultural experience started at a young age on her family’s citrus farm in southwestern Arizona. This family influence helped her discover her passion for flora and fauna and their interactions in our unique desert environment.
Her early understanding of growing crops guided Kasey to pursue a degree in Plant Biology at Arizona State University with an emphasis in Urban Horticulture studies. During her time at ASU, Kasey worked for a local plant nutrient and hydroponics supplier where she obtained hands-on experience with alternative growing practices, and more fully developed her knowledge of plant nutrients, organic supplements and pest management products.
Upon graduating from ASU, Kasey was recruited as an account representative for a wholesale horticultural distributor. She provided customers in the landscape and nursery industries with valuable services such as disease and pest identification, correctional strategies and recommendations for enhanced growing practices. Through her training programs and excellent customer service, she became the industry’s problem solver and educator. In recognition of her outstanding service to the green industry, her industry peers awarded Kasey the Arizona Landscape Contractors Association’s ‘Outstanding Customer Service’ award in 2006. Kasey has also spent time working as an in-house horticulturist and trainer at an award-winning landscaping firm in the Phoenix- Scottsdale area. Kasey helped to enhance the overall beauty and functionality of properties by providing advice on improved cultural practices such as water management, fertility strategies and pruning techniques.
Since education is one of Kasey’s aspirations, she joined the Arizona Landscape Contractors Association as Education Coordinator in 2015. During her time with ALCA, she oversaw the Arizona Certified Landscape Professional (ACLP) and Sustainable Landscape Management (SLM) certification programs. She also developed the Advanced ALCP certification program and Pest Management Division Pre-Certification day of training to help future certified applicators prepare for their state exams. Kasey is still an active ALCA member and volunteers her time to teach workshops throughout the year.
Kasey started Harmony Horticultural Consulting to share her passion for plants, landscaping and educating the industry. Kasey’s extensive knowledge and practical experience is an invaluable tool to help clients manage their plant health and pest issues and keep their properties attractive and productive.
